In the past when I have attempted to journal, I always wrote too much and got discouraged knowing I was never going to open up previous pages and read my scrawl. This journal is the perfect cure, because not only does it force you to be brief, but it also makes sure you will be reading your previous entries in a year from now, and not just having your previous entries rot in the wasteland that is the "earlier pages that you will never flip back to". Many reviews state that there is ghosting due to the thickness of the page. There certainly is, but nothing that hinders readability even with medium nibs. I personally don't have any issues with this aspect of the journal. In terms of the color, this port red cover is absolutely gorgeous and looks excellent on a nightstand.

Received this today along with the Monteverde Innova Blue Skies special edition pen set, inked it up with Diamine Imperial Purple ink, and backfilled entries for this week along with a few other landmark dates from earlier this year. I love the idea of a 5 year short-entry journal. Overall quality and manufacturing of the journal seems very high. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars (and I may be hoping for the near-impossible) is that the paper is thin. It does not feather or bleed through, but because it is thin, there is ghosting on the other side of the page due to the fact that the paper isn't thick enough for it to be more opaque. I have written some back to back entries and the ghosting does not hinder the readability of either entry, but you are aware of it. I see no issue with being able to stick to recording these brief memories, and hope that my teenage daughter will find it interesting someday down the road...
