Great for testing ink

I bought this with the ink reservoir and I'm a fan. I'm familiar with sailor steel fountain pen nibs so the lack of flex didn't surprise me at all. I didn't try it without the reservoir so I can't comment on the pen's performance without it. I like that the nib stores inside the handle to protect it from damage. I bought the medium as well. I plan to get the other sizes soon.

Not what I expected (unfortunately)

Unfortunately, this was not what I expected. I had hoped that with this style writing instrument, the nibs would have enough flexibility that the tines could spread apart and create some variation in the line width since there isn't a feeder system attached to the back of the nib - which usually creates stiffness. The nib/tines are extremely rigid and if you apply too much pressure, you will bend the entire unit before you will get any flexibility out of it. This is my error. As it is described one of the main values of this pen is that you can quickly switch ink color back-and-forth with a quick wash or switch out the nib from fine to medium ect., and I do believe it would perform these functions just fine. But if you're looking for line variation/ribboning this is not the pen to purchase. It's still a good pen and very affordable and even though it doesn't do what I had hoped I'm glad to have it in my collection nonetheless.
