Quality pen holder.

Leather is nice and stitches are solid. Leather loosened up nicely and protects my pen perfectly.

Aston Leather Roxks

This is my favorite single pen sleeve. I have several. Quality, pebbled, leather. Durable and attractive.

As intended.

My fountain pen is protected from scratches while in this thin pen ouch, jumbled together with other tools of the craft. It is nice and the quality is good.

I want to love it, but...

Goulet is great. This pen slip, however, is only so-so. The leather is very nice and smells wonderful. The construction appears quite good. Now for the bad stuff... the grain of the leather on the interior leaves little fibers on your pen that have to be brushed off. The fit is extremely tight, even after I tried stretching it out. Because of this, I'm sure that the rougher surfaces inside are leaving micro scratches on pens that have to really be jammed in there... and then you have the problem of not being able to easy extract the pen. For reference, a Lamy 2000 fits fine now that I have stretched it out some. However something mid-sized like a Pilot 742 is tight; and larger pens like a Pelikan M1000 simply won't go. The primary issue is that when it gets to the clip on these pens, it's just too big. The leather is too thick for you to keep the clip over the leather -- plus the pen would stick out making it pointless. Because of this, find that I hardly ever use this so it was kind of a waste of money. If you have a small / thin pen -- especially one that is clipless -- and you're willing to deal with brushing off leather fibers and occasionally struggling to get the pen out of the case, maybe it's worthwhile. For me, it just sits around unused. But it's good for sniffing when you're looking for a fix of that fine leather smell.

Very soft leather, and great for LAMY 2000

My LAMY 2000 slips into this pen pouch like it was made for it and it slips out easy, although only when I want to. It holds the pen securely and gives it enough cushioning that I am not worried that the pen will break or get scratched up in my pen case.Stitching looks good and it overall looks like a pretty sturdy case with nice finish. Although for 16 dollars do not expect exceptional quality. It is very good but not exactly a 5 star case.

FAQs about Pen Storage

What’s the best way to store an inked fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

There is no right or wrong way, but a lot of people find that storing them nib up is good if your pen tends to run wet, or nib down if your pen is more dry writing.

Horizontal is never a bad way to store your pens either, and is what the majority of the Goulet Pens team does.

Help! My pen leaks when it’s in my purse/bag/pocket! 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

As fountain pen ink is water based, and fountain pens are basically a controlled leak, any type of jostling motion can cause the fountain pen ink to leak out. We recommend you do not carry them loose in anything where they could get jostled and cause the ink to leak out.
