This hand-blown Herbin round glass dip pen is made in the tradition of 16th-century Venice. Each pen is an individual work of art. The fine glass tips are twisted in a light spiral to hold the maximum amount of ink. Glass dip pens are great for both fountain pen ink or calligraphy/dip pen ink!

Note: The instructions inside this glass pen say that you can smooth the tip with the included fine sandpaper. If you sand it, you’re altering the tip and will not be eligible for return. The more you sand away, the broader the line the pen will write. Whatever you sand away, you can’t put back! In our experience, it’s best to use micro mesh or mylar, as it’s finer than sandpaper and will sand less aggressively, minimizing the chance of irreversible damage. So go lightly, and understand that glass pens are stiff and will inherently not feel as smooth as a fountain pen.

Note: the box label may also call this color Emerald.

Smooth writing.

This is a smooth writing Glass dipping pen. I bought it to try ink samples. It is very easy to clean. It is very delicate and fits perfectly in my hand. The picture is a good representation of color.

Great for Ink Sampling

I bought this as I love to get different samples, but found it challenging to try and test them all by constantly refilling my main pen. This is the perfect solution for that. Dip, write, wipe. That's it!

Having said that, there is a learning curve to this. I found depending on the ink, it may need to be wiped against the side of the container a bit to get rid of excess ink, otherwise you may get a BLOB where you don't want it. (In my photo you can see that with the Sailor Ink Studio 435 and the Private Reserve Infinity Violet, on Clairefontaine paper.) Also, it's a little too large to fit into the sample vials, so I had to do things. First, improvise by tipping the vial sideways then rotate the pen to ensure coverage and second, wipe off the bulb part of the pen that touches the inside of the vial if I don't want lots of inky fingers. But it's worked really well for testing.
I did have to use a bit of superfine wet/dry sandpaper on the end to get rid of a rough spot but once I did it was fine. (I believe I heard on a video if you do that, you're invalidating the warranty and can't return it, but I'm not positive about that. I wasn't concerned as I knew I didn't intend to return it.)

Amazing pen!

This plan is glass smooth (pun intended). Very comfortable and easy to write with!

Very happy!

I'm new to dip pens and I was concerned how I would feel about the drip and feedback from a glass pen, but I was pleasantly surprised. This pen is a lot of fun to write with and I love being able to change inks so easily.

Great dip pen

I was wonderfully surprised at how well it holds ink and how long I could sketch with one dip. Nice fine point and no drips and messes. Very cool pen.
