Noodler's Air - Corp Blue-Black ink

Although I loved the color, I was a bit disappointed that the color ran just a bit when I applied watercolor. Not as water resistant as I'd hoped.

Very, very wet- does not go 'greenish' with a glass dip pen

I was really hoping to get that nice green teal shown in the swatches, but this ink is so wet that using my glass dip pen with it on Tomoe River 52gsm white paper just came out black with a hint of navy. I hope to try it in my Lamy Safari with a M nib soon, and see if that, or watering it down, lightens it up enough to get that shading effect.

Dark Teal Semi-Eternal

This ink was very dark in some of my pens, including my Noodler's Ahab. It was so dark in fact, that it was almost black except for the slightest teal shade. However, it works really well in my Lamy Studio Aquamarine (M). That pen seems to be a little dryer writing, so the Air-Corp comes out a little lighter. I love it! Definitely one of my favorites.

Beautiful color

I love this ink! The color is lovely and I really enjoyed taking notes with it. I didn't have problems with smearing (I'm right handed) in my Clairefontaine notebooks. I used this sample in an EF Platinum Preppy. Hoping to add this ink to my collections when the time is right.

I want to love this more

I'm very left-handed, and new to fountain pens. I'm currently on a journey to find "my" bottled ink, something with a little flair that doesn't smudge too much. I first tested this ink in my Lamy Safari with a medium nib, and I had an awful time with it. It was a very wet ink that took a long time to dry in such broad lines. Consequently, it smudged something awful and I walked around with ink on my hands for a couple of days afterward. I tried it on several types of paper, from more absorbent paper to Rhodia paper. It also had a propensity to feather quite a bit. Afterward, I switched to an Extra Fine nib in my Lamy Safari, and it was approximately 98% better. The ink dried in a much more reasonable amount of time, and the smudging went away. I've done quite a bit of writing, and it's worked much more smoothly. About the ink more specifically, the color is delightfully unique like many of the other reviews suggest. It's definitely closer to a dark teal color than a blue-black ink, but it's also a really subtle color that blends into professional settings. The ink has a pretty flat finish without much shading. It's a gem in a lot of ways. In all, I do enjoy this ink. It works well enough. I'm not sure I love it enough to make a big bottle purchase of it, but that's mostly based on personal taste rather than the ink itself. Generally, it's not you, it's me.

FAQ about Ink Samples

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial.

How much writing can I do with 2ml of ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It really depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our Ink samples, or one good fill with a piston-filling pen. How much writing depends on you more than anything else, so we recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.

What is shading, sheening, or shimmering ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Shading - A common (and often desired) result of a fountain pen ink pooling in certain parts of a letter when writing, so that the color and saturation of the ink appears different within a single letter or word. This characteristic cannot be achieved with ballpoint or rollerball pens and is a very appealing aspect of fountain pen use for those particularly drawn to all the pretty ink colors.

Sheen - Characteristic of a fountain pen ink where when ink pools another color can be seen on top of the ink, especially when looked at in different light angles using certain paper types. There is no way to guarantee an ink will sheen, but using a larger nib on a pen will help obtain sheening results in your writing.

Shimmering - Fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size and shimmering ink. All the ink we sell is safe for use in fountain pens.
