My first try with Noodler's ink

This sample of Noodler's Turquoise ink is awesome. It's a beautiful ink. The color is nice even with a fine nib on my new TWSBI Diamond 580.

excellent turquoise

A sleeper among the many in this range. People like different things as turquoise/teal range colors. This one is a nice not too blue...not too green... It's hard to decide if it's blue or green leaning on my sample. That's exactly what I like in a teal range...with a wetter medium throw stubs you can get elements of both in shading. It has a really nice saturation while remaining very bright. In water the blues/greens shove right off but theres a grey/charcoal element that leaves a very legible text behind. So it's not really water resistant but is highly recoverable. I like J. Herbin Bleu Austral (much more blue leaning) Diamine Aurora Borealis (similar but darker less vibrant not as bright) but for the money and curb appeal this is a value leader...while you won't find a truly water resistant ink in this range... This is extremely recoverable.

Lovely ink

I initially put this in a fine nibbed pen, it was 'nice'. I have since put the remaining amount into a Lamy with a medium nib - and the experience of this ink is much improved. The colours and shading really need a thicker nib to show the qualities.

Exceeds expectations

I bought the Massachusetts 54 and Turquoise. This one was, by far, my favorite. The color is dark, but light enough to see the color. I am a first time buyer and I really enjoyed this color the most. It's lit. And just so we are all clear, this is my first time using a fountain pen and ink. Therefore, I do not know what saturation, shading and water resistance mean. I just know I would rather this ink because it's fluid and not as sloppy at Massachusetts 54. That's all I know. Peace!

Shading for days

I bought this specifically to use in my Twsbi 580 1.1 stub. Let me tell you, it does not disappoint. The shading is so pretty and it flows like a dream in the stub. It's not a true turquoise, but it is still a fantastic color.

FAQ about Ink Samples

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial.

How much writing can I do with 2ml of ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It really depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our Ink samples, or one good fill with a piston-filling pen. How much writing depends on you more than anything else, so we recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.

What is shading, sheening, or shimmering ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Shading - A common (and often desired) result of a fountain pen ink pooling in certain parts of a letter when writing, so that the color and saturation of the ink appears different within a single letter or word. This characteristic cannot be achieved with ballpoint or rollerball pens and is a very appealing aspect of fountain pen use for those particularly drawn to all the pretty ink colors.

Sheen - Characteristic of a fountain pen ink where when ink pools another color can be seen on top of the ink, especially when looked at in different light angles using certain paper types. There is no way to guarantee an ink will sheen, but using a larger nib on a pen will help obtain sheening results in your writing.

Shimmering - Fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size and shimmering ink. All the ink we sell is safe for use in fountain pens.

You can learn more in our blog: How to Write with Shimmering Ink.
