Supplies Used:

Smear Test (Dry Time):

  • About 25 seconds – This ink took a while to dry, but we wouldn't say it was on the extreme side for a long dry time.

Drip Test (Water Resistance):

  • Low – It didn't have much water resistance, and there wasn't much evidence of ink left behind after the water touched it.

Saturation:

  • Medium – You could see a pretty good difference between swab #1 and #2 on the swab test, but not much between #2 and #3.

Ease of Cleaning:

  • Medium – Medium, mostly because it's a darker ink so we needed to flush the converter a few times before it was totally cleaned out.

Shading:

  • High – The shading in this ink is so lovely! You might see some sheening even!

Flow:

  • Wet – This ink flowed really nicely out of my nib and even looked pretty wet as it sat on top of the paper. All of the Monteverde inks are lubricated, which helps them flow really well.

Packaging and Aesthetics:

  • Comes in both 90ml and 30ml bottle sizes. It reminds me of a bottle you would see a vintage ink come in.

Summary:

We just really love this ink. The color is great because it's not an outrageous color, so it could be appropriate in most settings, but it's still different and fun. The sheen and the shading make it stand out!
