Ink Review
Supplies Used:
- LAMY with medium steel nib
- Rhodia No. 16 dot pad, 80g white paper
- Tomoé River 52 gsm white paper
- Leuchtturm1917 80g notebook
Smear Test (Dry Time):
- 20-30 seconds – While not the fastest drying, this iron gall ink should be dry by around 30 seconds.
Drip Test (Water Resistance):
- Medium – Not completely water proof but enough ink stays behind to still be visible.
Saturation:
- Medium – With the amount of shading in this ink you get varying degrees of saturation though this ink is on the darker side so it is easy to read.
Ease of Cleaning:
- Easy – This was found to be pretty easy to clean, it was not particularly thick so it rinsed away readily out of the pen.
Shading:
- High– From lighter almost pink gray to deep almost burgundy this ink has some flair and shows well on all paper types we tried.
Flow:
- High – Scabiosa is fairly wet writing and this is seen in how long it takes to dry. In the LAMY medium nib it puts down a wet smooth line.
