Made from natural resin uniquely mixed to represent palettes of oil paint, this Visconti Van Gogh series is inspired by the artist's color and technique. Each pen represents a specific Van Gogh painting. The pen utilizes Visconti's eighteen-faceted design, with the many edges enhancing its vivid colors. A converter is included, and it also accepts standard international short cartridges.

One of Van Gogh's most treasured and iconic paintings is the Café Terrace at Night. The painting depicts the terrace of the café on the Place du Forum in Arles, France and is the first painting in which Van Gogh used starry backgrounds; he went on to paint star-filled skies in ‘Starry Night Over the Rhône’ and the ‘The Starry Night’ a year later. This pen is brought to life by blue, orange, yellow and green hues to recreate Van Gogh’s technique, emotion and mood portrayed in this remarkable painting.

Now available as a gift set with a matching bottle of ink and a special edition bookmark.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here.

Wonderful Pen

I love this pen! It is so beautiful with the colors and pattern of the resin. I knew every one of these pens looks a bit different due to the way they are made, and I was so pleased the one I received was absolute perfection. I also like several other features, such as the faceted barrel, the hinged spring loaded clip, and the magnetic closure. However, for some reason the magnetic closure does not always seat on the first try, like my other two pens with magnetic closures do (Pineider Avatar Demo & Monteverde Full Abalone). If this was the only pen I used, I'd get it closed properly on the first try every time, but I rotate through a few different pens daily. This pen writes very smoothly, mine has a Medium nib.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
