LAMY AL-star Fountain Pen - white silver (Special Edition)
Introducing the 2022 special edition LAMY AL-star fountain pen! white silver is a bright, glossy silver color, complemented by chrome trim and a silver nib.
The LAMY AL-star is the aluminum big brother to the LAMY safari. The smoky grey translucent triangular grip section makes it great for those starting out who have no idea how to hold a fountain pen, but it's used and loved by fountain pen lovers of all levels of experience.
This fountain pen comes with an interchangeable silver steel nib, which can be easily swapped out for another size. This fountain pen comes with a blue LAMY ink cartridge so you can get started writing right away.
If you'd like to use bottled fountain pen ink, you can also purchase a LAMY Z28 converter, sold separately.
Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

Original medium nib was very scratchy no matter what I did, (cleaning out the pen, making sure everything was realigned when I reassembled etc). In fact, the so called 'medium' nib wrote finer than the Lamy F nib I had from a safari. I reached out to customer service expressing my concern and received a replacement medium nib. The new medium nib almost gave this pen a new lease on life and it wrote like what we expected a Lamy brand to write. Thank you Goulet!
I was pleased with the AL Star since I already have 3 other Lamys ( CP1, 2000 and Nexx).
I usually enjoy wet nibs and inks when I write, but I've found myself impressed by the fine nib on this lamy. It's absolutely a dry nib, no doubt about it, but dry does not equal scratchy! Coupled with the LAMY black cartridges that I have a gross amount of, the pen actually writes really well. On printer paper, there was some bleed through, but no feathering (atleast to my standards), and this is also terrible printer paper. On FP friendly printer paper I'm sure it would fare much betterPerfect performance on Midori MD paper. I expected it to feel poor with the combined slight tooth of the paper, but it was actually pretty smooth. Tomoe River much the same as the Midori.Overall I recommend this pen to those who enjoy drier writing experiences and a finer nib.
It arrived safe and sound. It is a white silver in color. Enjoy this size pen as I can write without posting and it is comfortable in my hand and does not require an effort to "push" the pen. I have a fine nib and it lays down my writing with just a hint of scratch. I woukd still call it a smooth nib. I like the one click pen cap, it keeps the nib and feeder moist. It was a great buy. It is well engineered and well made.JED
