Noodler's Rose in the Louvre

I love buying from Goulet. The packaging is impeccable AND fun. The sticker and the sucker. The new ink is gorgeous. Great saturation. It is a deep rose. Well-behaved, even on the inexpensive paper I use. I inked up 2 pens. It us the perfect match for my new Lamy Safari AL in Autmn Pink. Which is a great pen. I even put in my Noodler's Creaper Flex, (King Philip Purple) which is a dinky little thing. The wetter ink helped it write smoother. I previously had
Herbin Rouge Grenat in it. So I love my new ink and I love Goulet.

i want to love this ink!!

ottoman rose is GORGEOUS, a rich pink that shades from bright magenta to deep pinky-plum. but its combination of wet flow and slow dry time have made it difficult for me to find a way to use it without constant smudging, which is hyper-visible due to the vividness of the ink! some of the smudging is due to my being a left-handed writer, but i can't imagine that righties have it easier, given how long the ink stays visibly wet on the page: i wrote the second topic? item on my to-do list nearly half an hour ago and the dot under the question mark is STILL shiny and wet! i added magnifiers to my pic to highlight some of the problemthe vertical bar of the P in program is still wet after <10 minutes, and the i dot under to-do is, like the ? dot beneath it, visibly shiny after 30 minutes. this dry time is the slowest i've seen since i started using fountain pens. I've been using it in a diplomat magnum [F], which in my experience has been a very wet nib, on a rhodia 80g white lined A5 notebook. i have noticed other colors being a bit slower to dry on the rhodia and clairefontaine paper than my last tomoe river notebook, but nothing has been as severe as this ink, which is borderline unusable with this paper/pen combo for daily writing. i've given it a few different tries thinking i was the problem, but i think it's time to flush out this ink and retire the color until i can try it on different paper like tomoe river.

Is it ink or some sort of erotic philter ?

I usually don't like to use rose so much as I can't get over the girly aspect but this one, I like ! A very vivid dark pink verging on magenta. If it was not for the label I would have called it sensual. As usual with most Noodler's inks, it's a very saturated ink. It is rather well behaved and the ink properties are normal with a rather slow drying time unfortunately. Its high saturation makes it rather dark which is good for Extra Fine nibs, but to me it really shines with a nice broad or stub. I recommend it.

Kinda too bright and dry for my tastes.

Love Noodler's Ink, have several bottles. This color was a little too bright for my tastes and was pretty dry. Looks great in very broad nibs and some art work my daughter did.

A lovely dark red ink

This is a terrific ink. I'm just starting to dabble in the huge array of colors out there, and wanted a red that was this kind of a shade. I used it for some lettering with a 1.5 nib, and it was just lovely, exactly the color I was looking for. It's my new favorite ink...so far. And 3 oz. of it will be sure to go a long way.

FAQs about Bottled Ink

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink.

What is shading, sheening, or shimmering ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Shading - A common (and often desired) result of a fountain pen ink pooling in certain parts of a letter when writing, so that the color and saturation of the ink appears different within a single letter or word. This characteristic cannot be achieved with ballpoint or rollerball pens and is a very appealing aspect of fountain pen use for those particularly drawn to all the pretty ink colors.

Sheen - Characteristic of a fountain pen ink where when ink pools another color can be seen on top of the ink, especially when looked at in different light angles using certain paper types. There is no way to guarantee an ink will sheen, but using a larger nib on a pen will help obtain sheening results in your writing.

Shimmering - Fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in.

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size and shimmering ink. All the ink we sell is safe for use in fountain pens.

You can learn more in our blog: How to Write with Shimmering Ink.

My ink smells funny, is it safe to use? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Generally yes! Ink does not smell good- it usually has a chemical smell, along with other scents such as sulfur, rubber, chemicals or even paint. However, as long as you’re not seeing anything floating in the ink, it should be safe to use.

It’s cold and my ink froze; is it safe to use? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes, frozen ink will not hurt your pen (after it’s thawed of course!) The issue with ink freezing is primarily a concern because certain glass bottles could break as the water-based ink expands, and then you’d have a mess!

What is your return policy for bottled ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B
