It’s okay but…

I own several of these converters. The best thing pilot could do for the con-70 is to remove the spring mechanism and button and use the space for ink capacity, fill it with a pipette and be done with it. Turn it into a large refillable cartridge. If I could eye dropper my pilot falcons…I would.

Pump! Pump it up!

Pretty fun converter to use with its button on the back of the converter. I tend to put my ink in an ink vial or a different container since I don't want to put my pen my clean ink if I might need to press the button a couple times. However overall great capacity and fun to use.

Huge, easy fill. Yay!

I have a few other converters that are barely bigger than a cartridge, or that are a struggle to actually get full and have to be refilled often because of it. This is my first converter with this kind of fill mechanism but I thought it was much easier and more effective than the piston converters I have. After sticking it in the inkwell and pressing the button 2-3 times there's hardly an air bubble left in the reservoir so I dont feel like i'm being cheated out of full capacity. I love being able to doodle and waste ink to my heart's content knowing it's so quick and clean to load it right back up. Recommended if you like to draw or just enjoy moving ink from pot to nib to paper.

Large capacity, Lasted me 2 weeks!

Paired this with my Pilot Kakuno (F) and works wonderfully. I've been syringe filling it so I don't really know if ink still gets into the button mechanism but overall, it holds up a good amount of ink! I've been using this on my Kakuno (F) for my planners and journals and one full fill lasted me 2 weeks before having to fill up again. I don't have any problems with cleaning so far. I use a bulb syringe to get most of the ink out and a dull syringe if I need to get into tougher spots.

FAQs about Converters

What is a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter is a cartridge-shaped reservoir that allows you to use bottled fountain pen ink, when a cartridge would otherwise be your only option. Fountain pens that have this option are usually referred to as a cartridge/converter pen, or C/C for short.

What pens accept a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

These fountain pens all take a converter. Please check the individual product descriptions for if the pen needs a proprietary or standard converter.

You can also check out our Cartridge/Converter Compatibility Guide for general brand guidance.

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go.

How do I clean a converter pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

You can clean a converter by flushing it out with water, the same way you would use it to fill your pen, but instead of ink you’re just using water or a Pen Flush
