I've been looking for a Tomoe River replacement. Is this a replacement? Yes and no. Yes, because it is fountain pen ink friendly. No, because I'm not a fan of the texture of the paper�but that's just me. If you are looking for a replacement, then this is suitable. The only ink that feathers, so far, is Noodler's Baystate Blue.

I love Clairefontaine notebooks - I grew up in France, so I have fond memories of the notebooks, but I haven't been able to get them in the States. Not only do I love this series of notebooks, but the way they were packaged and delivered was really marvelous. There was a card in the package from the person who packed my order so beautifully (thanks, Brenda J!), and a card from the owners. I will definitely be returning here to purchase gifts (and more notebooks) in the future!

The paper was so thick and smooth no ghosting no bleeding amazing. Definitely ordering again soon.

I originally ordered two of these notebooks and have since ordered five more. I love the smoothness of the paper and the shading of my inks while journaling or note taking. I had an ink mishap while taking notes and ended up with a huge blob of ink that ended up spread over a small section of the page. There was no bleed through at all and it dried really nicely! (see pictures, but please excuse my handwriting. I was note taking at a conference with my notebook in my lap. You can see a bit of ghosting of the spill, but absolutely no bleed through. Inks: Noodler's Air Corp Blue-Black [spill] and Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses). I left a note on my second order requesting that they avoid sending me a red notebook (least favorite color), if possible, and they were great and were able to accommodate my request. I really appreciate the level of customer service I've received while ordering from Goulet Pens.

The quality of these books are amazing. Probably the smoothest writing paper I've come across. My pens just glide on the paper. My notebooks were packaged with so much care and Goulet pens even through in some goodies. I will definitely be back for more.
