Ink Review
Supplies Used:
- LAMY with medium steel nib
- Rhodia No. 16 dot pad, 80g white paper
- Tomoé River 52 gsm white paper
- Leuchtturm1917 80g notebook
Smear Test (Dry Time):
- ~20 seconds – We found this ink sits pretty solidly in the middle of the road in terms of dry times. It's not super quick drying but also doesn't take a long time either, it would be great for less fountain pen friendly paper.
Drip Test (Water Resistance):
- Medium – Despite not having any water resistant properties this held up pretty well to water and while most would wash away you may see some bits left behind if a writing sample were to get wet.
Saturation:
- Medium – The biggest difference was between swab one and two, going from light to a deep blue-grey, this allows some great shading.
Ease of Cleaning:
- High – This ink doesn't have any water-resistant properties so it rinses out easily with no staining.
Shading:
- High – Starting light grey Fuyu-Syogun deepens into a darker grey color on the loops and crosses sections of writing giving it a gradient and depth of color.
Flow:
- Medium – Not wet or dry writing this fits neatly in the middle and would work well on most paper.
