Organics Studio Aldous Huxley: Ink Review

Ink Review
Supplies Used:
- LAMY AL-star with medium steel nib
- Rhodia No. 16 dot pad, 80g white paper
- Tomoé River 52 gsm white paper
- Leuchtturm1917 80g notebook
Smear Test (Dry Time):
- 30+ seconds – This ink is extremely wet writing, and due to how the dye components settle on the page, it can smear even days after use.
Drip Test (Water Resistance):
- Low – This ink has no water resistance and will run if exposed to water. It is perfect for water washes and shows a lovely bright blue, but it would not be suitable for line work.
Saturation:
- High – There is little or no difference between swabs 1 to 3. This goes down dark blue, and the red sheen becomes more intense when layered.
Ease of Cleaning:
- Low – Inks with higher sheen can be more difficult to clean as they are more prone to staining a pen. This one is no exception; if left in a pen, it can be difficult to fully clean.
Shading:
- High – This ink has some good color variation depending on how the ink is layered. The sheen lends to this to give it a lot of color variation.
Flow:
- Wet – We found this ink flows very wet, which goes hand in hand with a long dry time. It may be best to use on loose-leaf sheets or in a notebook that won't close on its own.

Summary:
Organics Studio Aldous Huxley Old World Blue overall is an excellent addition to the Organics Studio sheening inks. While higher maintenance, this ink has a lot of personality and will give any writing a lot of flair.
