Noodler's Habanero ink is a fiery addition to any collection of inks, promising a vibrant writing experience reminiscent of its spicy namesake. As we delve into its performance across various aspects, let's explore how well this ink lives up to its bold reputation.
Ink Review
Supplies Used:
- LAMY safari with medium steel nib
- Rhodia No. 16 dot pad, 80g white paper
- Tomoé River 52 gsm white paper
- Leuchtturm1917 80g notebook
Smear Test (Dry Time):
- 20+ seconds – Not a particularly fast drier. This reminds me of Southwest Sunset but slightly faster!
Drip Test (Water Resistance):
- Low – Most of the lovely orange color gets washed out with drips and the smear
Saturation:
- Medium– Habanero is a lighter ink with high color saturation. As you can see, there's not much difference between swabs 1 and 3, but there is a little bit.
Ease of Cleaning:
- Easy – Light colored inks are usual a breeze to clean and Habanero is no different!
Shading:
- High - From light orange to a much darker orange-red shade, you can see some lovely shading with Habanero on every paper tested
Flow:
- High – One of the wetter writing Noodler's inks but it's not a fast-dry kind of action. This ink just feels smooth coming out of the pen!
Packaging and Aesthetics:
- The Noodler's 3oz bottles coming filled to the brim and always have some interesting art work. Each bottle is the perfect size for continuous filling and they seal perfectly.
