Apollo, Zeus and Aphrodite are the protagonists of the brand new Visconti 'Mirage Mythos' fountain pen collection. Greek mythology teaches that the Olympian gods are immortal beings, governing the life and death of human beings. These three personalities that Visconti selected represent three different supernatural forces that inspired this new Mythos Collection.

This mauve/purple resin fountain pen with bronze shading is named after Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. Daughter of Zeus, her most recognizable symbols are the dove and the sparrow.

The cap elegantly closes with a magnetic twist closure, and is accented by gold-plated trim. The center ring is engraved with the inscription, MYTHOS, and a V to emulate a stylized Mount Olympus. The brass grip section has a soft brushed satin finish.

The pen is completed with a large #6 steel nib with a yellow gold vermeil finish, made by Schmidt in Germany. A converter is included, and it also accepts standard international short cartridges.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same. We cannot honor special requests.

Visconti Mirage Mythos Fountain Pen - Aphrodite

I could hardly wait to get this pen although mine seems to be more purple than pink. I ordered it because I thought it was purple and it turned out to be perfect. The magnetic closure is fun to play with and I cap and uncap it several times just for enjoyment like Drew did in his review video of these pens which I saw and it's the reason I wanted to get this pen. it is fun to use and writes smoothly and is my first Visconti. I would also someday like to get a Visconti Van Gogh pen but don't know which one yet and will have to wait until I am able to get one. it's always nice to get a pen and supplies from Goulet Pens. Their website and videos are well designed and very informative.

The pen itself is stunning. Very sturdy and well balanced. The cap wiggles a little bit when posted, but it's not distracting. I really like the magnetic cap closure! It's very secure and makes a delightful fidget. The nib is a little scratchy, but I'm hoping fiddling with it a bit will solve that issue.

Beautiful pen

The pen is absolutely beautiful. The pictures just can't do it justice. The rich colors, attention to detail and quality are very nice. It writes very smooth. I did a medium nib and it's quite wet. Not overly so but it does write wet with Pilot Asa Gao ink. Totally happy with my purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
