The SWIPE is the newest model from TWSBI. It comes with three different filling mechanisms: a spring loaded piston converter, a traditional twist piston converter, and TWSBI proprietary ink cartridges. One of each is included! You can also fill the entire barrel with ink with an eyedropper.

This pen has a translucent smoke grey body and clear grip section so you can see your ink flowing, and has a push/snap cap. It is completed with a silver stainless steel nib.

The SWIPE uses the same #4 size nib as the TWSBI ECO and the TWSBI GO. It can also accept standard international ink cartridges.

Awesome Pen, Lousy Clip.

This is my first TWSBI and I don't usually write reviews, but this pen is awesome. I think it would be difficult to find a better pen for under $50. It writes very smooth and the nib was perfect out of the box. I haven't even had a chance to use the converters yet since the cartridge lasts so long. This pen sat for a week without use and the ink started flowing with out delay. The TWSBI ink does not smudge and dries quickly. I will be buying more TWSBI's in the future. My only knock on this pen is the clip and the reason for the 4 star review. It is almost usless as it is very tight and I am afraid I might break the cap trying to open it up a bit. I would remove the clip, but it stops the pen from rolling around. Worth every bit of the $26 I spent and then some.

A versatile pen

Although it is a cartridge/converter pen, the ink capacities of the plunger and the traditional converters are comparable to a lot of pistons (1.6 ml). And the pen itself is eyedropper convertible.

Clip is Achilles Heel

Two Swipes and two caps that cracked in a short period due to the clip. If I get another Swipe, I will remove the clip first. Otherwise a first rate pen.

The TWSBI pen I've been waiting for.

It's great for long writing sessions and the fact that I can use cartridges or converters with it is an added bonus. Furthermore, the nib can be swapped out. I've always wanted to try out a TWSBI but never took the plunge because I'm iffy on pens with only one method of filling. That was of course, until this beauty came along.

Cautiously optimistic

This is my first TWSBI, and also the first FP I have purchased from Goulet Pens. I got the Medium Nib because the fine nib on my Pilot Metropolitan was just too fine. Probably, I want something in between.Super fast flowing pen (for my writing style). I first used the spring converter, which was fun, with Iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo. And then popped in the very large cartridge of black ink that it came with. I have to write super large to make my words legible. On the plus side, my handwriting has gotten better because I cannot scribble with this pen and get anything usable or readable. I plan to keep using it, but might have to get a finer nib.Value is high for all the options in ink filling. Quality feels kinda cheap to me, like a disposable pen, but then, this is also the first demonstrator I have ever owned.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
