The SWIPE is the newest model from TWSBI. It comes with three different filling mechanisms: a spring loaded piston converter, a traditional twist piston converter, and TWSBI proprietary ink cartridges. One of each is included! You can also fill the entire barrel with ink with an eyedropper.

This pen has a translucent turquoise blue body and cap, a clear grip section so you can see your ink flowing, and has a push/snap cap. It is completed with a silver stainless steel nib.

The SWIPE uses the same #4 size nib as the TWSBI ECO and the TWSBI GO. It can also accept standard international ink cartridges.

Great Starter Pen

I just got my first fountain pen and selected the TWSBI Swipe based on recommendations in the blog. I have found it to be a great pen. The primary reasons I selected it were price and the fact it has several fill options without spending extra money. It has a cartridge as the default, then a piston converter and a spring-loaded converter. Having all three gives you the opportunity to see which you like better. I'm finding I have a preference for the piston converter. Even though it doesn't hold as much ink as a cartridge, it is so easy to fill up. I think the spring loaded is a little clunkier. I didn't use up all of the ink in the cartridge, but used a small bit of putty to plug it and then taped it in place, so I can use it later but I expect it will be easy to refill with an ink syringe.
The pen is postable, but easy to use when not posted, and I found that posting it makes it a bit top-heavy so my writing is smoother and the flow of ink more consistent when I don't post it. The grip is good for my hands, and I like having a view of the bottom of the cartridge so I can see when I'm close to running out of ink. The pen also comes with a plastic case which can hold the pen and both converters without any problem.
If you're a first time buyer, I highly recommend this pen, it's a great value for this price point. I definitely will be trying other pens from TWSBI.

Newest TWSBI

I got the Swipe with a 1.1 stub nib and I like it very much. I have many other TWSBI fountain pens, but this one will go with me as I'm not as afraid of it getting lost or stolen.

Good simple pen

Like all my TWSBI pens, this one is made well, keeps it simple & it's reliable. Love TWSBI pens, this one included.

TWSBI Swipe

Better than expected for the price. Writes well. Cap seals well so it doesn't dry out and produce hard starts. I chose the wrong colour this blue is too bright and makes the pen look gaudy and cheap. I wanted the darker blue one but clicked incorrectly. The Goulet people, as usual, excelled in packaging and mailing my pen. I sure wish they had a store in Toronto we need them!

Great pen

For the price what you get with this pen is very nice. I am using Noodlers Polar Blue in it. I notice the fine nib on the Swipe is more of a crosse between fine, and medium. I was comparing it to a Pilot fine nib. It tends to write wet, but that could be the ink, and paper. It writes great, and for the price getting two converters alone is nice touch. The clip is not as practical as other styles, but I did not buy for the clip. It will live its life in a Galen leather pen holder. Over all an enjoyable writing experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
