Great ink!

What I like about the samples is that you receive enough to really give the ink a true spin around the block. It also allows one to try our more expensive inks before making a purchase. I really love the Edelstein inks.

Good ink, small sample

A nice ink but would not be worth it's premium price if you bought a bottle. You can get most inks that are just as nice for half the price of Edelstein or even less. Sample vial only about 1/3 full.

Very Disappointing

This ink looks nothing like it does on the screen. Basically it is a simple purple with shading. It's boring. If I could return it I would. Topaz is a spectacularly beautiful color, complex shading, smooth and a pleasure for the eye. Sapphire is just the opposite. Too bad.

great flow

I have purchased this ink in Topaz and Sapphire, and both are great. I like the flow of this ink, for lack of a better word. Neither color ever clogs in the pen. The Sapphire shade looks violet when wet, but dries to a slightly more professional color somewhere between navy and purple.

A nice soft shade of blue

As advertised by Pelikan, this is a soft blue. The ink works well in all my parker pens and I do like the color, but it is too soft for me, powder blue would be my description. It is worth a try if you like blue ink.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
