Underwhelming..

This reminds me a TON of Red Rattler Eel, just without the added lubrication. - Its very wet, and easier on the eyes than a bright red. - I would personally suggest Colorverse Redshift, Diamine Red Dragon, or Noodlers Red over this one. - YMMV.

Colorful without being over the top

I had bought a sample vial of this ink from Goulet and am very happy with it. Good, dignified red color that flows well and looks great!

My favorite red ink so far.

I am usually not much of a red ink fan, and would have never ordered this ink on purpose. I got this ink in a random sample pack. A few weeks went by and on a whim I decided to put it in one of my pens. I was very pleasantly surprised! It looked and acted much better than other red inks I've tried [Noodlers Red, Red Dragon, etc]. There's just something about it that makes me, a red ink hater, into its biggest fan. It plays very nicely on cheap paper, and looks even better on good paper [Rhodia, etc.]I will most certainly be ordering a bottle of Noodlers Widow Maker as soon as they are back in stock.

Vibrant but yet subdued Red

I got this sample in the random samples for the first time kit. It really like this ink. It has a nice red hue but is just subdued enough to use as an everyday ink. It resembles the Diamine Oxblood. It is lighter than the oxblood but has the same subdued hues.

Very Nice Red

I use extra fine nibs, and those nibs do not lay down a lot of ink on the page. The effect of this is that inks tend to look lighter than the swabs samples. Widow Maker turned out to be an excellent choice for me. The color ended up being a very nice red and not a pink like some reds get in EF nibs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
