An old-fashioned green

I also first thought my brand-new pen had water in the nib; this green looks as if it should be foresty-piney dark but it's a medium minty green, something a bit darker than the leaves on my aloe plant. Think dusty pine needles It has a fair amount of shading and gives a very old-fashioned feel. A green with a blue-grey overtone to it. Reasonably wet in my Sheaffer 100 with a medium nib. Surprisingly water resistant.

Beautiful colour

Green can be a difficult colour both for pens and inks, and all the more so with lighter greens, but this colour is gorgeous. I bought it to match my green vintage Parkette Zephyr and the colour is perfect. It's a very nice light mossy green, almost minty. Very pleased with it.

If you are looking for ink to use with either dip pens or in fountain pens, you can't go wrong with J. Herbin. Thirty beautiful colours, all with excellent shading and flow. These inks are safe for all fountain pens, vintage and modern.

Kinda muddy

Colour is a personal taste and I have to admit, I don't really like this one. It seems like a slightly green dark-grey and is very muddy on white & cream papers. It would be much nicer if there was less grey/brown.

Great Shading!

I found this ink is a bit picky and calls for high quality paper to look good. On premium paper, with a wet pen, it's beautiful! The color is subtle yet distinctive, and it produces a lovely rich shading and sort of antique-like appearance. It's not an everyday mainstay ink, but it's a good one to break out for those special notes when you want to make an impression.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
