This 30ml glass bottle of Jacques Herbin Vert Empire green fountain pen ink is elegantly labeled and has an integrated pen rest. Jacques Herbin ink is non-toxic and pH neutral, water based, flows smoothly, and uses all natural dyes.

Vert empire (Green Empire): this color represents the proclamation of Napoleon Bonaparte on December 2nd 1804 as the French Emperor at the cathedral Notre-Dame in Paris. Napoleon Bonaparte famously crowned himself Emperor taking the imperial crown (the laurel crown) from the hands of Pope Pius VII to put it on his head. He then crowned his wife Josephine Empress. This scene is depicted in the painting by Jacques-Louis David, Le Sacre de Napoléon (The Coronation of Napoleon). It was a tradition among the Greeks and the Romans to crown the poets and the winners with a laurel wreath. In the Middle-Ages it was also a tradition to crown the distinguished scholars at the university with a laurel wreath.

Purchased because I used it before

Have not opened it but expect it to be same quality as all previous purchases.

a bit too subdued

Sadly, the color isn't what I was hoping for. I really like Herbin's Rouge Grenat, which is kind of understated, not super bright. This green (for me) is too understated. It looks almost grey. Perhaps it's my paper, Tomoe River yellow. As ink, it seems fine.

Lovely, Subtle Ink

A very good and beautiful ink. In natural light, appears as a gentle olive color. Not the wettest ink in the world, but never had any flow problems. Tested in a Jinhao 51a with a fine-tip nib.

Beautiful ink with a hint of mystery

I wanted to use it in my new Monteverdi Rodeo Drive, but it writes more like a broad nib on steroids. So I inked it up in a TWBI eco, and it's a dream.

The Color of Money!

My favorite green ink which is relatively fast drying and look great.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
