Mild sheen

I would say the competition is with Organic Studios Nitrogen. While this ink behaves well, on various papers it shows darker and with subtle sheen in comparison to Nitrogen. I would pick Nitrogen any day if you don't mind a little more smear potential (I don't). Still, as this seems a little more stable it might be a better daily use ink.

Sheening dark blue ink

This is one of several Diamine dark blues. Majestic Blue writes much darker than the swatch, almost a dark cobalt blue, with a crazy red sheen that give lots of depth. Because of the dye concentration required for sheening, flow can be poor in drier pen/nib combinations. This ink performs poorly in my Pilot VP F or E95S EF, but is lovely in a wetter or broader nib, like a Sailor 1911S or 1911L Realo medium nib. For a sheening ink, dry time is good, and it doesn't seem to smudge easily after drying. The sheen is really intense, even on decent quality copy paper, making the ink appear almost glossy red instead of blue. If you want a dark blue with good flow, but still with subtle sheen, Regency Blue or Oxford Blue are better options. Regency blue is a bit redder and Oxford Blue a bit bluer than Majestic Blue.

Diamine Majestic Blue Ink

Ink flows particularly well in My Aurora International, good color pop and quality of line and doesn't bleed through paper as bad other inks I've used; doesn't require as much pen cleanings as compared to Aurora Ink

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
