The Kaweco Skyline Sport is a pocket-sized fountain pen that when posted transforms into a full-sized pen that easily fits in your hand. This solid red-orange resin fountain pen comes with a stainless steel nib and an ink cartridge to get you started writing right away! It uses short standard international ink cartridges, or you can easily convert it to an eyedropper pen with a little bit of silicone grease. Converter and optional clip sold separately.

Note: This pen comes with an ink cartridge stored in the body. If it doesn’t fall right out, you can get it loose by giving the body a few solid taps on a hard surface.

Great Pocket Pen

I love this little pocket pen.

Nice

For the price, it does the trick. I should have spent a bit more to get the same design, just not plastic.

This pen altered the trajectory of my life

I had a roommate who turned me on to well crafted writing instruments. I am so glad that she did! Even though my penmanship is piss-poor, writing with this pen is an absolute delight. It stays on me everywhere I go and is used frequently. I highly recommend getting the clip to go with it so it can hang off your shirt or pants pocket.Just the other day I was skating to a nearby coffee shop when a rogue pebble caught me off guard. Man did I bite it. I was scuffed up and the face of my watch was now scratched, but this tank of a pen was barely marked. This pen is a lot like your grandad's old truck. The more you beat the **** out of it, the more it loves you back and better it works. I am rough with this guy. I work in oil and gas and take it out to the field constantly. I don't properly clean it when changing inks and opt to simply let the green bleed into the light blue. This is the very definition of an everyday carry pen, and it stays on me. If you have experimented with fountain pens in the past and it wasn't your thing, believe me... I get you. I had a Lamy Safari that felt cumbersome and off balance to use. Once it even came uncapped in my pocket and bleed into my jeans (fortunately it was loaded with blue ink). The threading on the Kaweco Sport ensures that this will never happen. When you post the cap, if fits into the crook of your thumb and forefinger perfectly. If you haven't experienced an extra fine tip, I highly recommend you give it a go.Folks, writing this review has reminded me why I love this pen. I think I will order another for Father's day so my old man can have his own. I always make it a point to keep a good knife, lighter, and pen on me. The Kaweco Sport is an excellent product that I hope to continue using everyday for the rest of my life. If you made it this far and still aren't sold, know that ordering from Goulet is a delight. They package everything with care, and even give you a sucker and sticker. The whole process is great, and I doubt you will ever look back once holding this beautiful tool.

A fun pen for occasional use

This is a fine pen to throw in your bag for the day. It writes well and feels comfortable. Ink capacity is less than other pens in this class and the plunger-type converter is persnickety, so it may not be ideal for long writing/drawing sessions. It takes a tumble okay, but watch dribbles in the cap. Posting the cap is a must for my larger handsand it's a great way to discover if any ink leaked into the cap during the trip!

FAQs about Fountain Pens

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.

Check out more info on these filling mechanisms including a video on how to fill each one on our blog.

How do I clean a fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck.

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

How often do I need to clean my fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors.

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

My pen won’t write! What do I do? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

First things first... make sure you have ink in the pen! Be sure that the ink cartridge or converter is seated properly in the pen, and that you aren't out of ink.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush, or a drop of dish soap in some water. New pens often have some machining oil residue left in the feed, so a good cleaning often does the trick first.

If that still doesn't work, try priming the feed. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

If it’s still not working after that, please reach out to us so we can help!

What's your return policy? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B
