This Herbin round glass dip pen is made of yellow glass. These hand-blown glass pens are made in the tradition of 16th-century Venice. Each pen is an individual work of art. The fine glass tips are twisted in a light spiral to hold the maximum amount of ink. Glass dip pens are great for both fountain pen ink or calligraphy/dip pen ink!

Note: The instructions inside this glass pen say that you can smooth the tip with the included fine sandpaper. If you sand it, you’re altering the tip and will not be eligible for return. The more you sand away, the broader the line the pen will write. Whatever you sand away, you can’t put back! In our experience, it’s best to use micro mesh or mylar, as it’s finer than sandpaper and will sand less aggressively, minimizing the chance of irreversible damage. So go lightly, and understand that glass pens are stiff and will inherently not feel as smooth as a fountain pen.

Fun pen experience!

Looks very pretty, especially when you spin it and watch the helices travel up the pen. It holds a good amount of ink, and it's easy to wash out. It's great for trying lots of different inks, or inks that you're worried about putting in your favorite FP (shimmer, iron gall, etc). Puts down a lot of ink after the first dip, broader than double broad. That caused some feathering for me, although I don't use fountain-pen-specific paper. Might be better on Tomoe, Apica, etc.

Beautiful!

I got one of these as a gift and I absolutely love it! It holds enough ink for an entire page of writing (on a 5.8x8.3 pg). I actually like the feel of the unsanded nib when writing, there's definitely some resistance but I find the tactile sensation and the sound very pleasant. The pen is also very easy to clean which makes it a joy to use. I will definitely be picking up a second one in a different colour.

So neat!

Truth be told, this pen's feel depends entirely on how much pressure you apply. You can almost hold it above the paper and let the ink flow off of it! And such capacity! I'm addicted. And the yellow color, from someone who normally hates such autumnal colors, so pretty!

I'm hooked!

My first glass pen, and it's a delight to use. Takes enough ink to finish a sentence or two before re-dipping. Comfortable to hold. I did modify the tip slightly with a few strokes of fine grit sandpaper which worked great. It makes trying out ink samples more fun as it can deliver varying wetness to the paper depending on stroke speed and pressure, and best of all it cleans up in seconds.
