This Edison Premiere pen is made of brown Cappuccino swirl resin with a gold-plated clip, and a JoWo #6 steel nib engraved with the Edison logo. It accepts a standard international converter (included) or standard international cartridges. It can also be converted to an eyedropper with a little bit of silicone grease.

The Premiere marks the first pen of an exclusive line of Edison fountain pens available only through the Goulet Pen Company.

All Edison pens are handmade in Milan, Ohio by Brian Gray and are each unique. We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, expect some variation in the pattern from what you see here.

We are transitioning the name from "Edison Nouveau Premiere" to "Edison Premiere", and the engraving may vary.

We do our best to photograph the pens to show how they will appear in person, but due to the nature of the material, there will be some variation in the pattern seen here. This adds an element of uniqueness to the pen, with no two patterns being exactly the same. We cannot honor special requests.

I Love This Pen

The Nib is Great, The overall design is very pleasant. You don't forget about the pen being in your hand, because it is BEAUTIFUL, but you forget it's there, because there is nothing negative. It is GREAT. The ONLY thing I could nitpick, is that it doesn't REALLY post. It does..... but not well. I don't mind, I LOVE this pen. Full Review here https://youtu.be/OHQnOVhYXHo

A worthy addiction.

At this point, I do not need any more pens. I have a Pilot Custom 74, I have a Platinum Century 3776, I have a Sailor Pro Gear Slim. an Esterbrook Estie, several Opus 88's besides a multitude of Lamy Safaris, Twisbi 580, and Eco, and Swipe. Forgot: I love my Kaweco Sports. So, I do not know why I did it, I was influenced by Drew Brown's video about brown pens. I was feeling blue and just needed a new pen. Imagine my surprise when this pen, and I did not bother to clean ahead of time, just wrote so beautifully, and so much more beautifully than any of my others. I had Van Dieman's Mandarin Duck Wing ink in it. I do not know if the ink made the difference. All I can say is that this pen is amazing. And I know a lot of pens, having started this hobby in 2019.

Excellent Writer

This pen was my first, and hopefully not last, purchase from Goulet Pens. When I first saw the pen, I knew I wanted it for my birthday, so you can call it my late birthday and early Christmas present. When I first cleaned it and inked it, I did not experience any hard starts. The pen is a soft and wet writer and it writes beautifully for a $169 pen. It's that price alone that I'll protect this pen like it's my baby. I won't let anyone borrow it, unless they're experienced in fountain pens, and is on Level 3 as I call it. The Edison Premiere is a Level 3 pen, a bit higher than Level 2's such as the Conklin Duragraph. I bought my Premiere in a Medium nib, I'm a sucker for medium nibs. But I'm open to branch out into broads or double broads and stubs. And I love my pen. But can I be honest? I'm apprehensive about the clip breaking. The pen currently does have a malodorous aroma that smells like burnt plastic, but I think it'll go away in time. All in all, it's a superb writer. I'll keep it away from my dog and children.

Edison Premiere Fountain Pen

I'd give it 5 starsIt does not skip and has a forgiving sweet spot, meaning if I inadvertently vary the rotation of the pen about it writing axis, it still writes. Real happy with the purchase. And btw, it also looks good.

FAQs about Fountain Pens

How do I fill a fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the pen's filling mechanism, which you can find in the Technical Specs section above.

Here's a quick definition of the most common filling mechanisms:

  • Cartridge - A small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write! Check out our quick guide here.
  • Converter - A detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter. Here's a video for how to fill a cartridge/converter pen using a LAMY pen as an example.
  • Eyedropper - A pen that utilizes the entire barrel as a reservoir for ink. Ink is directly filled into the barrel, allowing for a high ink capacity. Here's a video on how to do it!
  • Piston - A type of filling system that uses a retracting plunger inside a sealed tube to draw ink into a pen. They are typically either twist or push-operated. These pens cannot accept cartridges or a converter, and only fill from bottled ink.
  • Vacuum - A push-style piston that uses pressure to fill the large pen body with ink. They seal the ink chamber when closed, making it ideal for flying without risk of leaking. Check out our video on how to use a vac filler here.

Check out more info on these filling mechanisms including a video on how to fill each one on our blog.

How do I clean a fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck.

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

How often do I need to clean my fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors.

Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

My pen won’t write! What do I do? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

First things first... make sure you have ink in the pen! Be sure that the ink cartridge or converter is seated properly in the pen, and that you aren't out of ink.

We always recommend you give your pen a good cleaning first, using our Goulet Pen Flush, or a drop of dish soap in some water. New pens often have some machining oil residue left in the feed, so a good cleaning often does the trick first.

If that still doesn't work, try priming the feed. This consists of either dipping your pen nib and feed in ink, or forcing ink from the converter down into the feed.

If it’s still not working after that, please reach out to us so we can help!
