Perfect for blue and black only letters.

My close friend is incarcerated and they only allow blue or black ink. Twisbi Midnight Blue was a true dark blue that couldn't be argued was green or too fun but thats not to say it is boring.

Sampler vial

This was a "surprise" sample. It's still in my TWSBI Swipe (smoke). It's an okay blue. I like brighter. May have to try the Bay State blue.

TWSBI Midnight sampler

Nice blue! (I think this was the surprise me sample) to refill original cartridge that came with the Swipe. (Cartridge has one tiny shaker/mixer bead still in it). My nib is medium and may not have shown much shading in the ink.

Beautiful Blue! But ..

Poor! I love the bottle and the color is perfect in my blue perspective. Unfortunately I've tried the ink in five different pens and in each case the flow just stops and cannot be started without wetting with water. I've had similar reactions with some deep red inks but never the blues. Very disappointed.. I will reuse the bottle though!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
