Beautiful Inks!!

For my 1st ever purchase, I had a pretty good sized order: Ink (bottles & samples) Empty bottles - which had reminents of ink in them! (BONUS) as well as a couple of fountain pens. Full disclosure - I am an artist & for the most part was ordering inks for mixed media pieces....not necessarily for using in fountain pens. Every single ink I ordered was GORGEOUS and had beautiful finishes. I was focusing alot on colors I could use for skies/landscapes as well as a few fantastic greys I could use as "mixers" I swatched everything in my Talens Art Creation sketchbook (cream 140gm/94lbs paper) and was quite pleased with the minimal bleed-thru despite using a brush and water to see how the color would "extend" So admittedly, some of the factors that most folks would look for in an ink review, I may not have included here. But overall, I am extremely pleased with the quality of all I ordered (Inks- Sailor, Robert Oster, Diamine, Herbin, Noodlers, Monteverde, Organics Studio, DeAtramentis, etc. & 2 Lamy pens, 2 notebooks) and speed in shipping. I would 100% recommend Goulet Pen Co. for inks & fountain pens! Unfortunately for my wallet & willpower, I am hooked & will be ordering again soon!

Extremely unique and beautiful color

One of my favorite inks out of all the samples I purchased. The paper you use will affect the color a lot. On copy paper it will come out as a very dark grey green. It looks dark blue on Cosmo Air Snow paper. On Tomoe River S, it has absolutely gorgeous red-brown shifts on a grey-green base. No matter what paper it's on, it's still very dark and legible. The color will also change dramatically from wet to dry. Absolutely worth a shot if you like dark neutral colors!

The best shader?

This has to be the best shader I've ever tried. In the bottle and when it goes down wet it's a dark teal. I thought for a split second that Goulet sent me the wrong ink. Nope! As it dries, it turns into that beautiful soft golden/green/brown color but maintains a tiny bit of blue. Just wow... It's so beautiful. I think this is going to become one of my favorites.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
