Feathers badly. Stinks ; strong odor

I have purchased many inks over the past 5 years. Never have I used a sailor brand ink, and so far I'm not impressed by my first experience. This is mostly due to the strong chemical odor of the ink. It smells like plastic, and HARSH. Apparently it's the smell of "phenol", which supposedly curbs bacterial growth or something. I don't know what exactly it does but one thing is for sure - it smells bad. I mean even after the ink is dry, it lingers on the paper. I wrote two sentences then emptied the pen and reinked it with a noodler's brand and STILL the phenol smell remains on my pen. I'm astounded. I'm beating a dead horse at this point so I have no idea if you, the reader of this review, have rolled you eyes and moved on... but if you made it this far, please take heed: THIS STUFF IS STANKY! I like the shading and the color is pretty cool, but I can't get over its biggest downfall. As I mentioned before, I re-inked it with a Noodler's brand which I actually enjoy the smell. If you have covid, I'd recommend this ink 7/10. Otherwise its a 4/ 10 in my book Lol!One other negative aspect is the feathering. It is pretty bad on most paper, including rhodia, tomoe river, and Leuchtturm1917.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
