50ml Bottle

50ml square glass bottle of Sailor Manyo Koke dual shading fountain pen ink. This smooth-flowing water-based dye ink is specifically formulated to be safe for all fountain pens.

Koke is an aqua blue that shades out to purples and some green. As part of the third release in the Manyo ink series, Koke is a dual shading ink, which means it shades different colors than its base colors when pooling into areas of high and low concentration on the paper. Dual shading inks are really fascinating.

Goulet pro tip: This ink looks particularly stunning on water-resistant paper like Tomoe River.

Due to the nature of this particular ink, there will be variations in the color. This is completely normal. However we have highlighted the most common color swatch we have seen in our images, but your sample or bottle might vary slightly.

Beautiful it's going on my wish list

I purchased this as a sample. It flows smoothly from a broad nib (didn't try another) and dries in about 5 seconds. Though a pastel, it is very readable. I was unable to see any color-changing in the written words, but when I got a written scrap wet, I was able to see the aqua-teal and some green. Price is just a bit high, but the bottle does hold 50 ml priced about the same as Pilot inks (which I love).

Absolutely LOVE this ink

I was shocked at the poor review below. From what I know, the Manyo inks are designed with shading in mind and this is just gorgeous flowing from my 1.1 and 2.0 nibs. The ink is not too wet, but glides effortlessly out of every pen I've used with it. The color is a watercolor aquamarine/turquoise and I couldn't love it more.

I could not detest a fountain pen ink more

I absolutely hate this ink. But you may love it. I will explain. I have learned about myself recently that I detest shading inks and shimmer inks due to my pen being constantly clogged and the patchy results. I prefer a wet ink that writes uniformly with even strokes. Not the kind that changes colors. The problem that I have with this particular ink is that it's so light it will not last 30+ years on the page. It will fade to invisibility. And I am writing pages needing their ink to show for 100+ years for posterity documenting the pandemic. On top of this ink being so light on the page, it constantly clogs my pen and squirts ink out randomly onto the page. It's a nightmare. If you love shading and light colors, you will like this ink. I dislike everything about this ink though. I prefer the Sailor Ink Studio line as well as the Sailor Shikiori lines. Those 2 are divine and my favorite inks of all time. Sailor pens are top of the line and they make my favorite ink of all time - Ink Studio 641. But the light, patchy, shading inks are not for me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
