This oversized Sailor 1911 King of Pens fountain pen features a dark green urushi lacquered ebonite cap, barrel and grip section. It comes equipped with Sailor's legendary bi-color 21k gold nib in the massive King of Pens size.
The King of Pen Color Urushi Ebonite fountain pen collection comes in 12 glossy urushi-coated ebonite colors and is available exclusively through authorized Sailor Bespoke dealers.
Urushi lacquer is made of sap from trees grown only in East Asian countries that take 15 years to reach maturity. After years of patience and care, the sap is then harvested and mixed into lacquer, hand applied to the ebonite pen surface, and kept in high humidity until it sets into a lustrous finish that is waterproof and extraordinarily durable.
Each of these Sailor pens has had Urushi applied in up to 12 separate coatings that requires proper drying and hardening time between each application. The total process can take up to two months!
This fountain pen comes with a Sailor proprietary converter, a proprietary Sailor ink cartridge, a bottle of Sailor ink, and a cleaning cloth.
