A message from Robert Oster:

My great interest in fountain pen inks – and by extension inks that combine many creative applications – began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989.

As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.

The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colours a genuine inventory of the Australian palette.

Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world, the Coonawarra district of South Australia, an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It’s a joy to share it with you.

Gorgeous Purple & Blue!

This ink is very pretty! It goes down more blue & then once it dries - it's purple! It flows very well! I've had it in my Lamy Safari and a TWSBI 580 and it looks great in both! I could still see shading with the EF. It's a really good ink!

Love the Color and Flow

I think this ink is delightfully wet in my TWSBI Eco Stub. It performs well. The color is my favorite gray. I'm just the right light and on some paper, it will give a twinge of purple. I wish it were a hair more purple which is why it is four stars instead of five.

Not dry -- flows well!

I just got a sample in of this ink, since I was excited by the color but was uncertain about the reviews. Now that I've actually used it (in a medium nib TWSBI Eco-T) I don't find this ink dry -- in fact, it's sufficiently wet in the pen I'm using.

Poorly behaved ink a real disappointment

I had such hopes for this ink! The color is so interesting. But, alasnot to be. I have tried this ink in a wide variety of pens and all nib sizes and it performs poorly in all of them, even those with the best flow. The ink is so dry that it's effortful to write with it and isn't the joy of fountain pens how delightful it is to write with them? Save your moneythere are so many better performing inks out there!

Almost illegible it's so pale

I am profoundly disappointed in this ink and will not be buying another by Robert Oster. It's dry. It's puts down so little pigment that it gives the impression of a pen running out of ink. I was easily able to detect wetness on the paper, but very little color. Not at all like the swatch. I used the website to compare Summer Storm with Monteverde Tanzanite (which I also own). They appeared to have about equal saturation, with summer storm being more gray, Tanzanite more vibrant. The Tanzanite color swatch accurately portrays both color and saturation. The Summer Storm does not. I have two Monteverde purples, both beautiful and well-behaved. I am completely satisfied with the Diamine (2), Pilot (2), Noodler's (4), Lamy (1) and J.Herbin (1) inks I have purchased. This is the first bad experience I've had. I put the Summer Storm in an TWSBI Eco-T which had performed beautifully with Lamy Green ink, and with Tanzanite (after the Summer Storm I was wondering if there was something wrong with my pen!). On the positive side, it was very easy to remove every trace of Summer Storm from my pen there was so little pigment. I will give the bottle of Summer Storm to a friend (and lover of fountain pens & ink) at church tomorrow so she can try it. I'll see if her experience is like mine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
