Unusable

I want to love this ink; I love the shade and shimmer! But it refused to work in any of my pens no matter the nib size AND it got all blobby even on my dip pen. I was conscientious about agitating it thoroughly each time I tried to use it, but it refused to flow. Maybe the sample I got hadn't been closed properly and dried out a smidge?

Love to match ink to pen! Or is it pen to ink???

My Rose Gold Antiquia matches my Jinhao 9019 perfectly!I'm sorry I don't yet understand about ink flow, etc., but would love it if it was included in the ink sample information!!!And, as always your attention to detail and your service at a dependable 11! It's the little hand written notes that pushes it over the top!!!hugs!

Subtle

Robert Oster Rose Gold AntiguaTesting with Noodler's Ahab flex pen, Optik PaperVery nice, smooth, wet flow. Subtle glitter and nice color after drying. Did not notice any sheen or shading. Dries fairly fast. No hard starts or skipping; glitter only shows in certain light. Overall, recommended.

Overwhelming paint smell

I ordered a small sample of this ink, and while I can say the shimmer is nice and the color indeed rosy, the smell upon opening the container was like a powerful paint fume, like you should be working in a well-ventilated area or risk feeling ill. I filled my converter as quickly as possible, and was happy to find none of this translated to the page. I don't think I'd order a full bottle of the stuff, though, if that's what might happen every time I want a refill.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is shimmering ink safe to use in fountain pens? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Yes! Shimmering ink (a fountain pen ink that has small particles of glitter mixed in) is a great way to add some flare to your writing. We have found that a larger nib will showcase more shimmering particles while writing, but you can use any nib size with shimmering ink. While it is safe to use in fountain pens, it may require a little extra maintenance.

Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens, especially with finer nibs.

We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling, and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging.

You will also want to be diligent about regularly cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
