A message from Robert Oster:

My great interest in fountain pen inks – and by extension inks that combine many creative applications – began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989.

As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.

The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colours a genuine inventory of the Australian palette.

Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world, the Coonawarra district of South Australia, an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It’s a joy to share it with you.

Beautiful Blue

This is my second Robert Oster ink purchase, the first was Thunderstorm which is an amazing blue-black, and this is an equally impressive blue. Writes very smooth in my mini vac700r EF.

R. O. Great Southern Ocean

This was my first Robert Oster ink purchase and I'm smitten. The color is similar to Noodler's 54th, perhaps a little more blue, while 54th is slightly greener (at least in the formulation I have). I test my ink in a Pilot Metropolitan with a 1.0 mm stub nib or a Lamy Vista with a 1.5 mm nib. The ink is well-behaved and dries quickly.Based on my experience with this ink, I ordered more samples of Robert Oster ink. Then I ordered full bottles. All excellent.

One of my favorites

A very deep and dark blue. It definitely reminded me of gazing into that great southern ocean from the ship when I was enlisted. If you're looking for a perfect match to the blue TWSBI swipe, this is it.

Beautiful Ink

I purchased this ink on advice from Goulet Pen Co (excellent advice, part of the amazing customer experience!) and it is beautiful! The colour is a deep blue/black with a hint of green (I think) and it suits it's name. It writes quite wet and can bleed a little in some papers but it's lovely and smooth and gives a clean and consistent line. This ink has very good environmental credentials too. I grew up surrounded by the great southern ocean, so in a way it reminds me of home too. Wonderful to use.

A deep, dark blue

I received this ink in a random sample pack. Blues are really not my thing, but I think this is a rare exception. It shades nicely in a fine nib. It has a tiny bit of red sheen when used in a stub nib. So it has some really enjoyable range of use. Above and beyond the quantifiable, the color has some mystery to it. It is one of those inks that draw my eye and make my mind wander, and I don't know why. Try it out. I find it looks its best on tomoe river paper and written with a stub nib.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
