A message from Robert Oster:

My great interest in fountain pen inks – and by extension inks that combine many creative applications – began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989.

As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.

The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colours a genuine inventory of the Australian palette.

Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world, the Coonawarra district of South Australia, an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It’s a joy to share it with you.

Better than I thought it would be

I have one other Robert Oster ink, African Gold, and it has always performed admirably. The Bondi Blue impressed me by the depth and dimensionality is presents. I first tested it in a broad nib to get a good representation of what it was capable of. As another reviewer stated it is a bit more blue and less turquoise than the sample image shows - but the depth of shading is impressive. It almost seems to rise off of the page. The slight red sheen that shows on certain strokes also makes those letters look distinctly edged. I bought this as a present for my wife who didn't initially like the look of it, but later asked me to ink up her new pen with it.

A perfect shade of blue for art

Robert Oster inks might quite possibly be the most diverse terms of color and being art and nib friendly That shade wonderfully and are very behaved...Having said that I am basing it on a pair of samples The Bondi Blue is an absolutely beautiful color that shades even in EF Japanese pens and looks Amazing to me, mind you I am partial to this shade of blue Photo are on Goulet pad and studio calligraphy paper and the color punches up on both

Cotton Candy Color

This is my favorite blue. With the sheen it has a cotton candy look to it. Good shading. The blue is very interesting is its a blue all its own.

Excellent ink.

I bought this ink intending to compare it to my favorite, Pilot Iroshizuku Ama Iro. The Bondi Blue reminded me of a recent trip to Bondi Beach. It is a spectacularly beautiful place near Sydney, Australia. As pictured on the Goulet website and displayed on my Mac, the color looks a little more turquoise than it appeared on paper. By comparison, the Bondi Blue is a bit more blue-black and darker than the Ama Iro. Ama Iro is a true blue; there is little green in it but it is bright. The Bondi Blue, by comparison, is a bit more blue-black, though some of its shading, which is lovely, is lighter blue. Fans of a true turquoise might prefer the Australian Sky Blue, also from Robert Oster - true blue but lighter than Bondi Blue. The Robert Oster Torquay is more green than blue, though it definitely has a blue undertone. The best substitute for Iroshizuku Ama Iro looks like the Diamine Aqua Blue, a sample of which I also purchased recently. That has a very slight hint of green, just off the true blue of the Ama Iro and more turquoise than Ama Iro. Finally, the Diamine Turquoise is, to my eye, a true blue that is very close to Ama Iro. The Robert Oster inks are all well-behaved. They flow well and don't feather. They seem to dry in a reasonable time - faster than the Iroshizuku Ama Iro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
