50ml Bottle

50ml plastic bottle of Robert Oster Signature fountain pen ink in the color Astorquiza Rot. A deep red, it is named after Claudia Astorquiza who introduced Robert Oster inks internationally, and "rot" is German for red.

Robert Oster Signature Inks are handmade in Australia. The recyclable PET bottles are manufactured in Australia's first carbon neutral plastics plant.

Note: Robert Oster is in the process of changing the labels on their bottle and the label on the bottle you receive may vary from what is pictured here.

A message from Robert Oster:

My great interest in fountain pen inks – and by extension inks that combine many creative applications – began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989.

As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.

The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colours a genuine inventory of the Australian palette.

Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world, the Coonawarra district of South Australia, an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It’s a joy to share it with you.

Robert Oster Astorquiza Rot - 50ml Bottled Ink

Beautiful color and wetness.

Terracotta rose

It's a very difficult colour to define. I would say it is primarily a terracota with rose accents. I thought it would be more rose, so I was a little disappointed at first, but as I was writting with it I was liking it more every day. It went from less to more. It is the kind of colour a pirate would use.

Blood Red + a little Terracotta!

I love this color. I am fond of these rusty-reds, and will buy this as a bottle soon. It has much more of a dried blood quality to it -- unlike the Ancient Copper mentioned above (I show both.) When I sketch with it I can touch water to it and have lovely shading happen at the edges of my lines. Dries nicely, flows wonderfully! I think I could even use this at work -- in its darkest it is acceptably tame.

Great color

Love the color as mentioned in other review it is a dark burgundy/copper. I was looking for a reddish color ink to use at work at this fits the bill. Has a good color but my note paper does not look like a stop sign red. I used a Conklin Duragraph EF (Goulet) Nib, flow was just fine and dry time is short enough. Glad I made the purchase.

Deep red, great shading

Tried this ink as a sample & fell in love with it, now I' working my way through a full bottle. As others have said, it's not a pure red, more of a deep copper (side by side with Diamine Ancient Copper, it's only a touch more red, but it shades a good bit more nicely) but still a gorgeous ink. If you're looking for a traditional stop sign color, I would go with a different ink, but if a deep coppery red suits your fancy, this will leave you quite satisfied.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
