I have used many VPs and I still own quite a few of them. I wanted to get the Ls for a while now but quite frankly, and many pilot users will understand, the converters on these pens are just not the best... I'll leave it at that. İt is the main reason I stopped using my VPs regularly; and the reason why I didn't pull the trigger on this pen for so long. And then the iroshizuku cartridges finally came out and put an end to my con-whatever-ty misery! So I finally bought the Ls in matte black. I agree with everything about the nib and the mecanism being so soo smooth; like a VP in smooth slow motion, in a very satisfying way. But I find that noone is talking about the feel of the pen in hand. İt is hard to explain how all the refinements on the design, the grip, the exquisite matte finish just makes this pen so much more luxurious and enjoyable than a regular VP, and so worth the price tag. How it writes? Well it's a Pilot. İt is of course a superb writer

My first gold nabbed pen was the Pilot E95s after long experience with steel-nib, disposable Varsity pens. My affection was instantaneous. I soon ordered a Custom 74 to take things up a click. Then came a medium-ribbed and a fine-ribbed Custom 823. While further options abound, I was very curious about the Vanishing Point experience. I nearly had pulled the trigger on the 2022 red coral special edition when I saw Brian and Drew introduce the matte black Pilot Vanishing Point LS over the holidays. My order of one with a fine nib nearly was instantaneous. Pilot knocks me out, again. The uniquely silent "click" and release mechanism moves this pen far past the pedestrian aura cast by clickable ball points. The matte black metal finish with just a touch of red striping lends it the understated appeal of the Lamy 2000. I am head-over-heels for this pen. Do I wish it could hold more ink? Yes. But I can write over a four-page letter before a refill becomes necessary and, frankly, it's fun to savor this pen's engineering as I do so.

This is my first Pilot Vanishing Point. I've been eying them for some time because with only one exception, I'm a fan of Pilot's fountain pens. I was ogling the red coral special edition and, then, Brian and Drew reviewed this LS model in matte black. Of course, that compelled me to spring for a more expensive pen than I'd intended. To my mind though, it is entirely worth the price (with a mild quibble). It's beautiful. The photos don't do it justice. The silently smooth function of pushing the "knock" to make the nib emerge only is outdone by the silent slo-mo nib retraction at the feather-smooth twist of the nob up top with its red-line adornment. I expected a smooth, precise writing experience with the fine nib. Pilot delivered. Having never owned a Vanishing Point, I was surprised by the diminutive nib. But, the business end works exquisitely. I'd no trouble with the grip "around" the clip. It perfectly positions the nib-to-page for me. YMMV. Now, my quibble. Pilot fans already will have guessed it: this exquisite pen utilizes the notorious CON-40 converter. A pen of this calibre deserves better, let's leave it at that. C'mon Pilot.
