The Vanishing Point Decimo brings a new level of contemporary artistry to the Vanishing Point family. Redesigned and refined with a slimmer and lighter weight barrel, this fountain pen features a navy blue glossy lacquer finish with silver trim.

This fountain pen comes with a retractable rhodium-plated 18k gold nib - just click to expose or retract the nib. A hidden trap door helps keep the nib from drying out when not in use.

A Pilot CON-40 converter is included with this pen, as well as a Pilot ink cartridge. A metal cartridge cap is also included for use with the ink cartridge.

Each Vanishing Point fountain pen is beautifully merchandised in a black gift box. Immerse yourself in a svelte and luxurious writing experience!

Excellent pen

I love this pen. I test drove it at work for the last week and it is SMOOTH. Great pen.

Smooth as silk!

I just got this pen yesterday afternoon and test drove it all day at work today with a Pilot Namiki Cartridge. Wow, am I impressed! The pen is lighter than one would expect but more importantly, the writing was a pleasure. The nib is so smooth it makes writing a treat. The nib seemed to just glide across the paper.

Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo (Navy)

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and he LOVES it. He now wants to try other fountain pens (this was his first). Thank you!!!

Fancy pen but expensive.

I really like this pen. I've had it for years now. I think it is solid, quite durable and looks great. I do like that it's retractable and that makes it fancy and unique to other fountain pens. One thing I do not like, however, is that the replacement nib is more than half the price of the pen itself. The nib, for all fountain pens in general, is the most fragile part of the pen. If it breaks, then the pen is essentially unusable. So if I accidentally drop the pen and break the nib, it's quite expensive to replace it. This makes me hesitant to use it as an everyday carry or workhorse pen despite the benefit of it being a retractable nib. After having replaced the nib twice already over the years, I am finding that it's probably gonna sit in my collection for use only at home and I may not use it much out in the field.

Pen is great, the EF nib is not to my liking

I enjoy using this vanishing nib pen as much as I do others that I own. However, I find the feel of the EF nib too scratchy for me. I will return to using a F nib or sometimes a M nib.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill this pen from an ink cartridge? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses proprietary Pilot ink cartridges, which are available in a wide range of colors.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I use a converter? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A converter goes in the place of where the ink cartridge would normally go. From there, you can fill your fountain pen from bottled ink.

A converter is a detachable and refillable ink reservoir that allows you to use bottled ink in a cartridge-accepting pen. Typically you will install the converter into the grip section, dip the nib/feed into the ink, and twist or pull the converter knob to draw ink into the converter.

We have a great video showing how to use a converter here:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.

For even more information about fountain pen cleaning, check out our Fountain Pen 101 video blog post.
