A beautiful Neutral Brown!

I used this on my Monteverde Ritma and it's such a pleasure to look at. This isn't your normal warm brown but a cool and neutral brown. If you need a ref, think Burnt umber. If you're using this on copy paper, it hits that dark brown color but if you're using a resistant paper (Tomoe River) it falls a bit lighter (think of just a light hint of purple on your brown)

Great ink!

I bought an entire bottle of Yama-guri. If there was an "elegant" brown, it is Yama-guri.

Vampy Brown

This is a vampy brown so dark it can appear black. I use it as a substitute for black on days where I want something a bit for interesting.

A subtle use of color in everyday writing

This ink is used in an umber Lamy Safari pen. The ink matches the pen for my own sanity. It's a dark enough brown that people often overlook the hints of color in professional writing. However, I know it's there and appreciate the subtle pigmentation on the page.

Very nice shade of brown/bronze

If you use ink for watercolor, writing in the rain, or wipe away tears using your handwritten notes, I'd suggest a different ink.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
