I had been looking forward to trying this ink for a few months. I hate to say it, but I am very disappointed with the color. The ink the properties are great! But, the color is boring, bland and stale, not subtle and classy: subpar really. Save your money, time and pen flush.

Got a sample of Pelikan Edelstein, and I had no quarrels with it. I used the ink to rewrite my lecture notes.. Honestly, the only issue I had with it was it didn't make me want to keep writing with this ink. There are some inks that you are purely excited to write with just to see the colors! This ink was a bit more conservative with respect to eye catching quality. Overall a good ink though.

It's a very nice blue-black. I was surprised at how fast it dries considering it's somewhat of a wet flow. I'm definitely ordering a bottle soon.

There is something about the color of this ink, both wet and dry, that I find mesmerizing. I am not a fan of black ink on principle but for really fine nibs sometimes nothing else holds up. Tanzanite is a perfect substitute for black with its crazy black-blue-grey-purple thing going on. However, this ink flows so well that I really wouldn't recommend using it in a wet nib.

I had a similar experience with this as with Graf von Faber-Castell Midnight Blue. I really liked the swab, but was underwhelmed when actually using it (although I did like this better than the Graf). On the plus side, it dried ~15 seconds and had some water resistance (color bled, but was still read able). On the minus, it seems a bit pricey and the color wasn't quite what I was expecting - it came out as more of a muted dark blue on my Rhodia Dot Pad than the purply-blue of the swab. There's really nothing wrong with this ink, I just didn't click with it.
