I bought two samples before deciding this is it. The One. Gorgeous, deep, royal purple color is close enough to a dark blue to be ok for government work (literally) but still gives writing some personality. I have other purple/ lavender hues I use for a softer, paler presentation, but for bold, decisive writing, this is my default ink.

I love Noodler's inks, so this review isn't so much about the ink as it is the color. I understand that Noodler's is a boutique ink manufacture and ink colors may vary, but I was looking for a nice purple color, like the sample shows, and I got nothing of the kind. My sample of La Couleur Royale is straight up royal blue. I've tried it on several papers, and in a couple of different pens and there isn't a hint of purple in the bunch. The ink is nice, has good flow and everything you'd expect from Noodler's, but I knocked off a couple of stars simply because it wasn't what I expected.

Heavily saturated purple that could pass as a a business blue. If you have ever used a purple toned blue like Diamine Sapphire and wanted it to be a little more purple try this one. Looks much more blue on my monitor then it does in my fine Bock nib. Well behaved on most papers. Even OK on legal pads, again fine nib.

This is a lovely shade of bluish purple. I've used it on decent paper and there hasn't been much shading. It's vibrant and smooth. I like it as an every day color and wouldn't think twice about using it at work.

This was a Surprise Me ink sample in last week's order. The color is wonderful, dark and rich, heavily saturated. Too bad it is not very water resistant. When I tried it on cheap notebook paper most of the ink washed away, but not all. A faint but readable amount was left. Dries quickly, was nicely wet in my new Pilot E95S Medium pen. flowed well onto the paper. I consider this dark enough to be useful in the conservative business workplace. I recommend it, but already have a couple of waterproof dark blue inks in my pens now to use where this would be used.
