Burgundyes!

I LOVE this burgundy ink! When I'm not feeling dark enough for Nightshade this ink is my first choice. I'm really tempted to buy a bottle of it, but I'm running out of room for bottles quickly. I'll need a shelf just for ink bottles if I keep this up!

Better than Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo

Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo (Crimson Glory Vine) was the competition for this ink, and frankly, Noodler's looks better in my opinion.

Great service, get to try great inks

The color of this ink is more purple than the images from the website shows. I wrote a page in my journal with it using a Speedball C-6 dipper. I would get a bottle of this ink to have a distinctive purple for writing. Mixed this to make a darker, redder, more of a maroon color.Observe and learn from how the kindly folks at Goulet Pens package these samples: the vials have sturdy caps well tightened, are legibly labelled, then are put in a zip-lock bag for extra care. I did the same after using these and mixing some of them. Avoided making a mess.

Very pretty, almost perfect

This ink has no special properties, other than being my favorite color so far; lovely shading. If it was more bulletproof or bled through cheaper paper less, it would find a permanent home in one of my pens. Is less purple than the swab appears (as others have said). I am holding out hope that the Black Swan in Australian Roses looks similar on the page, but behaves better with cheap paper. If it is, then that will be my favorite ink ever; until I sample something else awesome. :)

Like burgundy wine

A very nice ink. It looks much deeper/darker in color than the ink swatch online -- a true 'wine' red (rather than purple) color. This is my first Noodler's ink and it has great color saturation and flow. I was actually looking for more of a rose color, to replace the J.Herbin rose-scented ink, and this isn't it. But I like it a lot. It has character.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
