Not bad!

Very pleasant experience, overall. Very smooth, very black, and well behaved. It would be perfect, except that it's got some heavy ghosting. If you can put up with that, this is an ideal black. I I should mention that

Nice and Very black!

This is a very nice, dark, black ink. I think it's even a little darker than heart of darkness. The drawback is that if you spill drops of your drink on it, your writing is messed up. Otherwise it's good for note taking or other general writing.

Second bottle different than the first

I loved my first bottle of Borealis. It was very dark, opaque black. The second bottle was pale. It was a shade or two more gray, but without much shading. Very disappointing. I understand there's intentional variability across batches of ink, but. clearly, there was just too much of a change here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
