Love at first sight!

I really did fall in love with this ink on first sight. The blue is gorgeous and sophisticated and almost indescribable. It's so beautiful! I don't know how to describe it, I couldn't really tell you if it's a purple leaning blue or yellow leaning, but it's just so amazing! If I had to use only one blue ink for the rest of my life, it would be this one. I highly recommend you try it! I love using it in a slightly drier pen so that you can see its lighter tones. I bought a full bottle of it!

Excellent Color

I've had plenty of time to run this ink through a few different pens, and I really like it. On more absorbent (generally cheaper) papers, it is a very solid medium-dark blue. Not blue-black at all, just a good solid blue. I think it is more attractive than many popular standard blue inks, but does not draw attention to itself. On more resistant papers, this ink shows great depth. Some sheen can be seen on Tomoe River paper, but on Clairefontaine Triomphe, the beauty is in the depth of color. If you like blue, this is a winner whether for everyday and professional use, or as a correspondence ink with character.

Great ink

I'm not one for blue, but after sampling this ink I really like it, so I ordered a bottle, the proof of a good product repeated purchases.

Rich, yet understated blue.

This was one of my first bottled inks, and I've grown to love it the more pens I put it in. It's a medium-dark cobalt blue with just a hint of teal. On some papers (and with wetter pens) it does tend to feather and bleed a bit, and dry time can be long on smoother papers with wet lines. If you're patient, this is a great daily writing pen, though it isn't all that waterproof. It shades beautifully and the color is, to me, nearly perfect.

Disappointing

We test with both a glass pen and an italic plumix so we have both a wet representation and a drier one. I got this ink because I was told it had fantastic shading and was a worthy cousin to Ottoman Rose. I want to know what pen they have, because I saw nothing of the sort. It's a rather boring blue regardless of wet or dry, with both being colors I've seen in standard issue ballpoint pens. They're sturdy enough blues, which is why I went ahead and gave this four stars instead of three, but I was looking forward to finally having a blue that I couldn't get at the Dollar Store.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
