Purple perfection!

I’ve tried this ink in 3 different pens and it writes so nicely in all of them. It’s a great shade of purple.

Nice ink, though not like the color in the online image

It's wonderful ink. The purple is rich and purply and it flows very well. The only thing is, I have been looking for a lighter, pinker purple colorexactly like what's in the image, and this is quite a bit darker in real life. Alas. Maybe some day.

For those the love purple ink!

Beautiful and Vibrant.

Gloriously Magenta-ish Purple

My go-to purple ink is Pelikan 4001 Violet, which is a true purple. But when I want a more vibrant, redder purple, Purple Reign is the ticket to nirvana. It has generous flow, and always starts immediately in a 1.1mm stub nib, my nib of choice. I haven't noticed much shading, but I haven't looked for it. I mostly use Purple Reign to call attention to special items in my engineering notes, wherein my usual choice of ink is Iroshizuki Tsuki-yo (a darkish teal). The color contrast between than and Purple Reign is excellent. Purple Reign has good saturation; no wimpy fading to a paler shadow of itself when it dries. It has somewhat better water resistance than the Iroshizuku inks I use (they have almost none). Drying time is a little faster than average; it never smears on the engineering note pad paper I generally use. My only complaint: I wish it were available in the larger (90ml.) bottle. But it's still reasonably priced in the 30ml. bottle. I suspect that a bright, vivid ink like Purple Reign appeals to a limited category of pen users; in other words, either you'd really like an ink like this, or you wouldn't even consider it. If you're in the former group, you'll probably love it. For my part, I never intend to be without it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
