The Monteverde MVP fountain pen is a tiny pocket pen! This fountain pen features a clear resin body with chrome accents and a #5 steel nib. It fills via standard international short cartridge, or fill the entire barrel with ink with an eyedropper or syringe. An o-ring helps create a tight seal. The cap screws securely onto the back of the barrel of the pen when posted, extending the length to make it comfortable in hand.

The Monteverde MVP fountain pen collection was inspired by modern art and its minimalist movement. The MVP (aka Monteverde Pocket Pen) is highly versatile and a perfect match to a jean's pocket, a purse, an agenda or a desk.

Being miniature in size, the MVP fountain pen uses reliable international short cartridges, and as a bonus, it is also an eyedropper pen. Included with the pen is an eyedropper for filling system (5ml pipette). The benefit of filling the barrel via eyedropper/pipette is an extra ink capacity that prolongs the duration of writing.

Each Monteverde USA® MVP pen is packaged in a beautiful gift box with an original artwork sleeve.

Didn’t realize how small it was. Awesome. Got a flex nib. It’s a bit scratch and I love it.

Scratchy Nib revisited

My thanks to customer service for resolving this issue, always a pleasure to work with Goulet Pens.

Scratchy nib

Nib is very scratchy, and hardly flexes. I have no other flex pen, so nothing to compare it to, but seeing all the videos and podcasts, I expected more. Ink is Platinum Carbon Black, the ink flows satisfactorily. I'm using this for labeling file folders, so guess I'll keep it for occasional use. Colorado Pen Show is next month, I'll see if someone can fix the nib. First disappointment in several months of pen purchases, and always appreciate Goulet Pens.

Disappointing pen - scratchy, dried out frequently, frustrating to use

I have been a fan of Monteverde pens, but this one was a mistake. I bought the MVP in the red puzzle finish with a fine nib as an inexpensive experiment to see how it compared to several other mini-pens such as the Kaweco Sport or Liliput, Wancai Mini. Short answer: very poorly.First of all, I did not find an "original artwork sleeve" - or any other kind of sleeve - with the pen. Second, the ink flow was dry, at best, and writing for more than a couple of minutes meant that the nib dried out. Third, the nib was very scratchy to the point that it scraped the paper with just normal writing pressure. I think that dipping a jagged nail in ink and then writing with it would give you the same experience. The finish is nice, the balance is ok - all mini pens take some getting used to, but the pen fails at its primary function - writing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this pen with ink cartridges? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses standard international ink cartridges, a common size which is available in many colors from various brands.

You can learn more about how to actually install an ink cartridge on our blog, or in this video tutorial:

How do I clean this fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It mostly comes down to flushing out the pen with water, and sometimes a little bit of pen flush if the ink is really stuck.

We put together a blog post with step-by-step instructions, or you can watch the video here:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
