This brushed stainless steel LAMY studio fountain pen has a propeller shaped bright chrome metal clip and an interchangeable silver steel nib. This fountain pen comes with a blue LAMY ink cartridge and a Z27 converter for use with bottled ink so you can get started writing right away.

Note: To ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

The Lamy Studio is an excellent buy!

The Lamy Studio is a perfect pen. The grip section, which is slightly rubberized is very comfortable. The pen was tested before it left the factory so the nib writes flawlessly. I'd purchase another LAMY if I could.

Great pen. Better for mid size to big hands.

Second Lamy pen. The Studio is much better for me than the CP1 because I have bigger hands and this pen doesn't cause my hand to cramp up over time. I am using an extra fine nib and it writes well. The black grip is good and works as expected; I specifically avoided the other models because I didn't want a problem with slipping and I don't with this pen. Otherwise, it's an attractive pen that I received a complement on the other day as a colleague walked by. The only thing you need to worry about with this pen, and it is my main concern, is the brushed finish. Brushed finishes will eventually have their grooves flattened out in certain spots by contact with harder surfaces or impact from drops. I personally don't have a problem with that because I keep my pens away from surfaces that will damage them. Aside from that, any pen is going to get damaged or wear over time unless you keep it in a box. So, live a little and accept that you'll eventually replace it, but only after some beautiful years. And again, there are ways to put a brushed finish back on things or smooth it out so it's more polished. It's all up to what you consider beautiful. I'm happy with the purchase.

LAMY studio fountain pen - brushed stainless steel

Writes well, and fits in the hand well. My only suggestion would be a nib that's finer than your fine nib, but broader than you extra-fine nib. That, however, is independent of the pen itself. A very nice piece of engineering!

Awesome Fountain Pen

The Lamy Studio is my 2nd fountain pen ever, and I think it's super easy to use. I'm no fountain pen expert, I've only had this pen for a month, but from what I've seen, it's super comfortable to write with. I was a little bit worried about the grip being too slippery considering I have bigger than-normal hands, but it worked out just fine! I can't wait to continue my fountain pen journey, and this is my current favorite fountain pen!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill this LAMY fountain pen with ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

This fountain pen can fill with proprietary LAMY ink cartridges, or from a LAMY converter.

A cartridge is small, disposable, sealed plastic reservoir that holds fountain pen ink. These come pre-filled with ink, and typically you just push to insert them into place and you'll be ready to write!

This pen uses proprietary LAMY ink cartridges, which are available in a range of colors.

As for converters, LAMY does make two different converters - the red Z28, and the black Z27. All of their fountain pens (except the 2000) can accept the black Z27; typically this converter is included with the higher-end LAMY pens like the aion, cp1, scala, and studio. The red Z28 has additional knobs for a more secure installation that is compatible (and sold separately) on the AL-star, joy, and safari.

We've got a great video demonstrating both filling methods here:

How do I clean a fountain pen? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

It depends on the filling mechanism, but it mostly comes down to flushing it out with water, and sometimes a little bit of Pen Flush if the ink is really stuck.

It's a bit easier to show than to tell, so we've put together a few quick videos showing you the process:

We recommend a good cleaning every 2 weeks, and any time you change ink colors. Water will usually do the trick, but we recommend you use our Goulet Pen Flush if the ink has been left in the pen for a while and could have dried up, or when you’re switching ink colors.
