Definitely ordering the full bottle

I absolutely love this ink! It is more of a 'strawberry' red than the name implies, but I think the product photos match the color pretty well. I have only ever used one other fountain pen ink and am fairly new to the community, so I don't have much to compare it with, but this ink is pretty great. I'm a lefty so when I was looking for a new ink one of the things I was focused on is dry time. This ink has roughly a 15 second dry time, which took a bit of adjusting since my other ink has a 5-8 second dry time. It only took me a few minutes to get adjusted to though, so not much of problem. The other thing I care a lot about with ink is how it handles the paper I use. I tend to burn through notebooks pretty fast, so I buy cheap notebooks. Cheap notebooks means low quality paper. Lamy Ruby didn't bleed or ghost horribly. This ink checked all the boxes for me! And I will defiantly be recommending it and Goulet Pens :)

Better to Call It Lamy Strawberry

This is not the deep red that the word ruby invokes. It's a little pale, almost heading towards pink. The shading is nice but otherwise I find little to recommend this.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
