I love this color!

The Perle Noir is such a cool color. The darker application combined with the lighter shading makes this color great when grey isn’t dark enough but blackout is too dark.

Great everyday ink!

I ordered samples Perle Noire and Aurora Black to try in a Pilot VP (Fine) instead of my current favorite, Namiki Black. This ink is certainly a little bit darker than Namiki Black, flows wonderfully, dries quickly (although slightly slower than Namiki) and feels great to write with! The only con for me is the shading - I prefer a more consistently dark black line. That said, this might be a pro for others.

Excellent black ink

This ink ticks all the boxes for me in what I look for in a black ink:Very good flow; rich black tone; works well in most (in fact all) my pens; a trustworthy ink to do the job. I recommend this true black ink.

Only black ink I own

Unless you use a large nib on extremely low quality paper, you can't go wrong with this ink. I don't even like black ink, but this one is always in one of my pens, usually a troublesome one; it's one of the only inks I've found that can turn a poor nib into a good one (though don't expect miracles). I also think this ink has a certain luster and depth that many other black inks lack. I sprang for the 100ml bottle (only from Goulet!) so I don't have to worry about black ink for awhile. And when this one runs out, I'll probably buy another, it's just that good.

Awesome ink!

A deep black, no feathering on my Clairfontaine paper, and thats using a Kaweco double broad! It also flows very well. This ink is so well behaved it will do well in a troublesome pen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
